Our Staff
It takes a big heart to shape little minds! Our staff has over 300 collective years of experience in the teaching field or experience with young children.

Linda Morton
After over 30 years as a teacher, Linda became our Director in 2020. Linda received her BS in Business Administration from Meredith College. She is a long-time member of St. Luke UMC. She has taught every age student at the preschool before serving as a three-year-old teacher for many years. She joined our staff in 1989. Linda has two daughters and three grandchildren.

Sandy McElveen
Sandy teaches one of our two-year-old classes. She brings thirty-six years of experience working with children to St. Luke Preschool. She has returned to St. Luke after teaching our one- and two-year-old class in 2021. Sandy has one daughter and four grandchildren.

Ashley Selby
Ashley joins the staff this year as a Teacher's Assistant. She has a BFA Degree from Shepherd University. She is an illustrator with over 10 years experience in children's publishing and the gift industry. She has actively volunteered in the children's ministry at her church. Ashley is married and has two daughters who have both attended St. Luke Preschool.
Cathy Lewis
Cathy has run our one-year-old program since joining our staff in 2002. In 2020, she took over as the teacher for our three-year-old class. She is well known in the community for her many years of devoted service at Buffalo Presbyterian Preschool. Cathy has also worked in our church’s After School Program. She has two sons and a daughter, and is the proud grandmother of eleven grandchildren, including two sets of twin girls!

Meghan Fullmer
Meghan is the teacher for our one-year-old class. Meghan joined our staff in January 2021 as a Teacher Assistant. She is excited to be a part of our team after witnessing first hand the growth of her own children in the program at St. Luke. Meghan has two daughters and one son.

Rachel Rouse
Rachel returns to St. Luke this year as a Teacher’s Assistant. She graduated from NC State University with a BA in Religious Studies and earned a Teaching Certificate from Meredith College. She has taught in Lee County Schools and has served on the Board at St. Luke Preschool. In her spare time, she enjoys the outdoors, movies and crafts. She is married and has two children.
Amanda Powers
Amanda teaches one of our four-year-old classes. She attended East Carolina University, and graduated with a BS in Child Development and Family Relations. Amanda joined our staff in 1989. She served as a previous director of the St. Luke After School program. Amanda has two children and three grandchildren.

Katherine Wheby
Katherine teaches one of our four-year-old classes. She received a BA in Elementary Education from UNC Chapel Hill and taught elementary school before joining our staff in 2011. She has been very involved in the planning and implementation of the children’s ministry at St. Luke UMC. She enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters.

Alex Martin
Alex serves as a Teacher’s Assistant. She is a graduate of NC State University and also has her Teacher Licensure. She has taught school in Lee and Moore Counties and works for DPI. Alex is a Sanford native and is excited to be joining the staff at St. Luke. She is married and has one child who attends St. Luke Preschool.



Ana Martinez
Ana is one of our two-year-old teachers. She has earned her Diploma as a Child Care care giver from CCCC. She has experience working as a caregiver and personal assistant and she is eager to care for and teach our preschool children. Ana is also bilingual. She loves gardening in her spare time. She is married and has three daughters.

Holly Mohan
Holly serves as a Teacher's Assistant. She attended Campbell University, then completed her Bachelor's Degree at UNC Wilmington. Holly has worked as a tutor, a teacher's assistant, and a substitute teacher for LCPS. She is the mom of four St. Luke Preschool graduates and has served for many years on our Preschool Board, as a classroom parent, and as a substitute teacher.
